Full description

Prefabs. Some on the left of A413 as you leave Amersham for the Chalfonts - but perhaps they were post war [B1].
46 prefab houses, shown on vertical aerial photographs 10th June 1950, appearing brand new [B2].
AP of 6th March 1985 shows site in the process of demolition [B3].
AP of 20th June 1989 shows site re-developed for housing [B4].
46 prefab houses built at Finch Lane, Amersham, intended to provide only temporary housing. In fact the houses were occupied for forty years until the site was redeveloped for permanent housing in 1987. One of the houses, a 'Universal House, mark 3' manufactured in nearby Rickmansworth was rebuilt at the Chiltern Open Air Museum in 1992-3 (B5).
