Brooch

Saxon saucer brooches with skeleton at Dinton Saxon cemeteryA piece of decorative metalwork attached to a garment by a pin, either as fastening or ornament. The word is most often used in post-Roman contexts, for late forms of the fibula and other types such as the saucer and penannular brooches. Several saucer and great square headed brooches were found as grave goods in a Saxon cemetery excavated at Dinton.
