There are two General Interest Packs which have been specially designed to help local community groups and individuals to carry out research and to get involved in archaeology. The packs were developed and piloted in partnership with members of several local groups in the county. "Where can I find historical and archaeological information?" includes a gazetteer of sources of historic and archaeological information, a toolkit of how to use them in various types of projects and examples of good practice from projects in Buckinghamshire. "How to get involved in archaeology" provides guidelines on how to set up archaeological projects and provides information on local archaeological societies and other groups with an active interest in the past. The packs are linked to short thematic essays on a host of topics including archaeological techniques and recommended reading lists.
